The subject of jnana and jnana yoga is very deep and vast, nevertheless we must discuss it briefly. In general, jnana or knowledge is of two kinds: verbal or theoretical knowledge and practical or experienced knowledge. Mere book knowledge without practical experience is shallow and superficial. Both theoretical and practical knowledge can be further classified into two: knowledge of material subjects and knowledge of divine subjects. There is theoretical and practical knowledge of spirituality. A person with mere theoretical knowledge is one who memorises the Vedas and other scriptures, but has not practiced any spiritual discipline. Such a person has no practical experience.

मन एक समय में एक ही काम कर सकता है। मन के संयोग के बिना कोई काम नहीं हो सकता। किसी भी काम को मन लगाकर तो करना चाहिये किन्तु एटेचमेंट(attachment) भगवान में ही रखना चाहिए।

हे श्रीकृष्ण ! यदि दीनता से ही तुम कृपा करते हो तो वह तो मेरे पास थोड़ा भी नहीं है ! अतः पहले ऐसी कृपा करो कि दीन भाव युक्त बनूँ ! ' ऐसा कह कर आँसू बहाओ ! यह करना पड़ेगा ! मानवदेह क्षणिक है ! जल्दी करो ! पता नहीं कब टिकिट कट जाय !

There is no true happiness right up to the abode of Brahma and as this includes all the other celestial regions, it is obvious that expecting or aspiring to attain happiness from the limited luxuries of this material world is absolute madness. We must seriously reflect upon the fact that there is not a trace of true happiness anywhere apart from God, as all the other abodes are dominated by maya. It is impossible for the soul to attain bliss in any region where maya rules.

Think that your worshipped form of God and Guru are always and everywhere with you as your guardians and observers.
इष्टदेव एवं गुरु को सदा सर्वत्र अपने साथ निरीकक्षक एवं संरक्षक के रूप में मानना है।
